CAMPING MAISONNEUVE at Castelnaud-la-Chapelle in the Dordogne - HPA Guide ® The directory of camping holidays - 2012 Edition

This family run site is beautifully situated in the Céou Valley, in the Perigord noir region of the Dordogne set against the backdrop of the medieval castle de Castelnaud. Camping Maisonneuve offers mobile homes, dorm rooms and 130 spacious, mostly shaded and clearly separated touring pitches. The site’s facilities are grouped around the old farmhouse and include a bar open all day, a small shop selling basic necessities and a snack open every evening and weekend lunch times. The Céou river runs along the west side of the campground, but campers can also make the most of the converted bathing area which includes a small natural waterfall and a diving board for jumping off into the fresh river water. The campsite offers a large overflowing swimming pool, paddling pool, mini-golf, children’s play area, games room, sports tournaments and weekly organized dancing/ music evenings with live bands or DJ’s. It is also the starting point for 25km cycle path down the valley. The facilities include three sanitary blocks that are kept clean and tidy, facilities for babies, disabled visitors and laundry. This is an excellent location from which to explore the beautiful region of the Périgord. From A20 take exit 55 on the D703 towards Sarlat and Beynac. Follow signs for D57 (Castelnaud la Chappelle). On exiting the opposite side of the village, a small road off towards the left that is well signed leads to the campsite.
